Human machine interface (HMI)
As a User Interface Designer, I was lucky to be part of a fantastic team that had safety as its top priority in the world of autonomous driving for Volkswagen. In this role, I was responsible for creating visual concepts that were not only visually appealing but, more importantly, easy for users to understand.
One of the exciting parts of my role was creating a design system. This system became the backbone for our entire team, ensuring that our concept screens were consistent in look and feel. By setting clear design guidelines, we maintained a unified visual style and made teamwork more efficient.
Being part of this safety-conscious team was more than just a job; it was a personal commitment to shaping the future of automotive tech. My passion for user interface design, trust-building, and consistency continues to drive me to create interfaces that not only prioritize safety but also enhance the overall driving experience, making it enjoyable and stress-free for users.
Our main aim was to make sure that users trusted and felt comfortable with autonomous driving. To achieve this, I designed interfaces that presented information in a clear and user-friendly manner, both for FID (front interface display) and for CID (central interface display). It was crucial that drivers could easily grasp what was happening while using the technology.
